Team up with compost worms and microbes to create rich soil and grow organic food.

Subpod is the compost system that’s different. Completely pest free and odourless thanks to its careful design, composting has never been this easy. Worms and microbes live inside Subpod, travel out and spread rich nutrients into your garden, then return home to compost your waste.

Taking care of your waste is as simple as opening a lid, stirring your scraps in and taking a seat. All the hard work is done by the worms below you. Subpod is attractive, but also subtle – easily hidden by bushy plants and thriving vegetables, so you can focus on keeping your garden gorgeous.

You don’t have to compromise on beauty in your garden, compost with Subpod.

How it works

Subpod works like a little compost factory. Your compost worms, and the beneficial microbes that live alongside them, are the workers! They take food scraps and carbon items (like paper, leaves and coconut peat) and turn it all into rich compost that builds soil and helps plants thrive.

Being underground, Subpod creates a natural environment for compost worms. Having access to the soil means they can feed and breed as rapidly as they like, because there’s always room for their population to grow. Soil is an insulator, and in hot weather, compost worms will instinctively escape into soil to cool down. As the weather turns cold, it will keep your worms warm and active during winter (as long as the soil doesn’t freeze). Every time your worms leave Subpod, their movement aerates your garden soil and increases its nutrient content.

Subpod is an aerobic system, which means it promotes odourless microbes to boost the composting process, not smelly anaerobic ones. The unique 360 ventilation below Subpods’ lid keeps fresh air cycling through your system and, with weekly aeration, your compost will only ever smell like a forest floor.

Length 75cm x Width 45cm x Height 43cm

As per the diagram, 32cm of your subpod will be buried and 11cm will be above ground

Well planned!

The subpod was extremely simple to assemble and install. My husband made a box to accommodate it and just yesterday I activated it with paper and dry leaves and compost and worms from our existing compost. It is a very convenient solution to pest problems in our compost system. Thank you.

We are excited for our new hobby!

I never thought composting would be fun, but Subpod has changed that. I love that we have our own "worm farm" and it's exciting to see the worms break down our food waste. Only a couple issues, the subpod sides were kind of warped so it was hard to get the center part in correctly. I was too lazy to send it back, so we are just dealing with it. It hasn't affected the performance at all.

Garden Bed

I had thought to place my Pod in the ground but after receiving it and considering the project a bit further decided a pre-build garden bed would be the best option for my space. It was easy to put together but I recommend reading the sites Knowledge Page and Q&A to make sure you place your Pod correctly - It needs airflow and naturally sits too low - you need to raise it up. You also need like 10 bags of top soil or similar to fill the space plus a bag of mulch. But once finished mine looked great and I know will be a good home for my compost and worms.

Makes life so much easier

I thought I was a lost cause when it came to composting. Trying to turn my compost in one of those bins is a nightmare. This has honestly been my favorite gift to myself in a long time and I don't feel like such a fool trying to compost correctly. Thank you for making me a little less terrible at it haha!
